Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to study: 1) the process of project implementation, 2) the results of this project, 2) factors related to the project success, 4) barriers and obstacles of the project, and 4) suggestions for developing the further project. Key participants included: 1) graduates, unemployed people, students, and the project managers and 2) stakeholders: government officials and people. In-depth interviews and focus groups were used to collect data. Data were analyzed by using content analysis.

The results of the study revealed that the implementation of the Improved Sub-District Economic and Social Integration Project, community’s herbal and agricultural product processing, enabled to access community’s cost and readiness based on community-centered approaches. Moreover, strong partnerships cooperated and supported all the project sessions. In addition, the project participants are expertise and outstanding characteristics. Those factors enhanced positive impacts on both human resources (individual, family, and community) and local ingredients that are value added. However, competences and readiness of employed graduates and COVID-19 pandemic were the project implementation obstacles such as lack of operation continuum. The participants suggested that various supports such as processing materials, information resources, extended duration of the project, and product improvement from other ingredients should be considered for developing the future project.

Based on this study, sharing the best practice of the project is recommended in term of community-centered approach. The policy to promote strong community with network partnership is proposed.  Furthermore, future research should be studied in-depth and longitudinal one both in stakeholder and non-stakeholder groups.
