Abstract

The objective of this paper is to review the literature on nursing care of the patients with preoperative anxiety. Preoperative anxiety is defined as uneasy, anxiety or tension from disease, hospitalization, anesthesia and surgery. There are many factors that cause anxiety. When anxiety arises, it affects the patient both in the preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative period. Nurses should pay attention to the patients with this situation, by assessing the anxiety of the patients before surgery with standard equipment. Evaluate factors related to preoperative anxiety, and provide nursing care for these patients by choosing a method that is appropriate for the context of each patient.
