Abstract

This study was a descriptive cross-sectional research. The purpose of the study was to examine predicting factors of exercise behaviorsin undergraduate Public Health students. The Sample were 221 undergraduate Public Health students from Faculty of Public Health, Mahasarakham University, who were enrolled during the academic year 2018. Data were collected by using a test of knowledge of exercise, social support questionnaires, and exercise behaviors questionnaires, with values of reliability 0.87, 0.90, and 0.82 respectively. The data was analyzed by using multiple linear regressions with stepwise selection method. The results of this research showed thatthe mean score of exercise behaviors among under graduate public health students was 42.04 (S.D. = 6.59). The exercise instrument support factor (b = 1.47, p <.001) and the exercise place support factor (b = 1.42, p < .001) were positively associated with exercise behavior. On the other hand, age was negatively associated with exercise behavior (b = -.91, p < .01). The exercise behavior was predicted greatly by the exercise instrument support factor (β= .22, p < .001) followed by the exercise place support factor (β = .22, p < .001) and age (β = -.16 p < .05). All related factors could jointly explain 10.80% of the exercise behavior (adjusted R2= 0.108, p < 0.001)
