PERCEPTION AND UTILIZATION OF SPORT NEWS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN VIENTIANE, LAO PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to examine the perception of sport news and the utilization of sport news for high school students in Vientiane. (2) to compare the perception of sport news and the utilization of sport news for high school students in Vientiane classified by the characteristics of persons, such as gender, year, and kinds of places used for perceptions of media. (3) to examine the relation between the perception of sport news and the utilization of sport news for high school students in Vientiane. The results of this research were (1) Most of high school students in Vientiane had the perception of sport news in a high level. (
= 3.64, S.D = 0.43) the perception of sport news from media increased their sport techniques and skills in a high level (
= 3.77, S.D = 0.57) , and they also turned sport news to good account at high levels (
= 3.34, S.D = 0.42) (2) High school students in Vientiane who had different characteristics, such as gender, year, and kinds of places used for the perceptions of media had the same perception of sport news, the perception of sport news from media increased their sport techniques and skills in the same way, and they made the same sport news utilization. (3) The perception of sport news for high school students in Vientiane related with their utilization of sport news in a positive way (r = 0.56), and it was statistically significant at 0.01 level.
