Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to analyze the necessary data for developing tackle training instrument for improving leg and back muscle strength in wrestlers, 2) to primarily build up and investigate the quality of the instrument, 3) to compare the leg and back muscle strength of wrestlers from Chumphon who normally trained and from Trang who trained with the instrument, and 4) to assess the quality of the instrument. The researcher adopted the purposive random sampling to choose 15 participants from Institute of Physical Education Chumphon Campus as a control group and 15 participants from Institute of Physical Education Trang Campus as an experimental group. Wrestlers in experimental group were 1-hour trained,3 times per week during 12 weeks using the instrument. A back and leg dynamometer was used for the measurement of muscle strength. Pre- and post-training records and quality assessment forms were also used. Data were analyzed with statistical software to analyze mean, median, and standard deviation. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney U Test were applied to test the hypotheses. The Wilsoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney U Test proved that leg and back muscle strength of the wrestlers from Trang were greater than those from Chumphon with statistically significant differences.
