The Development of Exercise Imagery Questionnaire in Thai Version (EIQt)

Abstract

Abstract

                The present research aimed to develop the Thai version of the Exercise Imagery Questionnaire (EIQ), and the accuracy of the questionnaire structure research norm, also. The sample were 800 students (380 males and 420 females, and age ranged between 18-24 years old), recruited by the method of random convenience sampling. The participants studied in the  Health Science, the Science and Technology, and the  Sociology and Humanities at Burapha University during the academic year 2013. The Thai version of the EIQ was developed with back translation process, and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)

The results shown that there were 0.86 accuracy details. Which to assess 3 factors of energy imagery, appearance imagery, and technique imagery out of 9 questions of the questionnaire, and the questionnaire structure accuracy was in the satisfied level. The Chi-square= 12.33; df = 15, p = 0.66,

GFI = 0.99, AGFI = 0.98, CFI = 1.00, RMR = 0.01, and RMSEA = 0.00 Moreover, the energy imagery, appearance imagery, and technique imagery score exceeded more than 80 percent. The empirical data was consistent with the original concept. In conclusion, the developed Thai version of imagery instrument was appropriated to measure imagery use in the Thai population. Future research of imagery in exercise should conduct with different age, gender of the participants, and in correlation with other factors such as motivation.
