AN EFFECT OF EXISTENTIAL GROUP COUNSELING ON ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION OF YOUTH THAI TENNIS PLAYERS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine an effect of existential group counseling on achievement motivation of youth thai-tennis players. The sample consisted of 20 voluntary youth thai tennis players from Piramid academy of tennis with who have less score for 16 person from score of the achievement motivation  test for sport developed from Sombut Kanjanakit and Nopparat Aimardung (1996). The reliability of questionnaire was .86. These subjects then were equally divided into one experimental group and one control group with Match-pair test. The experimental group in the existential group counseling program for twelve sessions. The research instrument were the achievement motivation test for tennis and the existential group counseling program. The data were analyzed by t-test for dependent samples and t-test for independent samples

The research result were as follow: The achievement motivation of group in the existential group counseling program significantly increased than before at .05 level and when compare the control group the reveal that the achievement motivation of group in the existential group counseling program significantly higher than the control group at .05 level
