Evaluating the performance of agrichemicals hazard prevention in Suwankhuha District, Nongbualamphu Province

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of prevention of hazard from agricultural chemicals use in Suwankhuha District, Nongbualamphu Province by using CIPP Model of Stufflebeam. The sample were 30 public health officers who worked in Suwankhuha Hospital and Suwankhuha District Health Office, 30 study subjects from a community leader, local government organization and village health volunteers, and 394 agriculturists in Suwankhuha District. Data collected by interview and focus group discussion. The instrument were structure interview questionnaires and semi-structure interview questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics by paired t-test. The qualitative data analyzed by content analysis.
The results indicated that the severity of this problem was very intense and needed a mutual understanding of all sectors. The input evaluation was a clear understanding of the objective when implemented project, readiness personnel, insufficient of budget, scarcity of networking in communicating and alternative wisdom. The process evaluation, it was found that community participation was performed. After implemented this project, the results showed statistically significant higher in the average scores of self-protective from agricultural chemicals, and quality of life (p-value < 0.05). The most common health effects were fatigue, dizziness, the second common was nasal irritation, sore throat, feel dry and skin rash (52.8%, 48.7%, and 42.1%, respectively). In addition, it was found that the environmental were change for better of 78.3%.
