Renal papillary necrosis
Main Article Content
Abstract
A 67-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus presented with fever, dysuria and low back pain on both sides. At initial presentation, the amount of urine was unchanged. She had no edema and denied any shortness of breath. The diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis was entertained and antibiotics was given. She subsequently experienced increasing back pain on the left side and became anuric. Her BUN/Creatinine increased. The findings from computed tomography of the KUB system and retrograde pyelogram were consistent with acute papillary necrosis.
