Abstract

This cross-sectional analytical research examined the associated with preventive behaviors against COVID-19 among chronic disease patients in Samrong District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. A multi-stage sample was utilized to select 361 participants, and data was collected through questionnaires with a Cronbach’s alpha of over 0.70. Descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data and investigate factors associated with a significant level of 0.05. Results showed that 84.2% of participants demonstrated a high level of coronavirus infection-preventing behaviors. Factors significantly associated with COVID-19 preventive behaviors were knowledge about COVID-19 (β = 0.141, p=0.006), perceived susceptibility (β = 0.189, p=0.001), perceived benefits (β = 0.139, p=0.013), and perceived barriers (β = -0.105, p=0.04), which predicted 11.5% of coronavirus infection-preventing behaviors, with perceived susceptibility being the most influential factor. Therefore, public health professionals should continue to educate chronic disease patients on preventing COVID-19, focusing on using herbs for prevention and treatment, the benefits of vaccination, the risks associated with the disease, and the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and quality of life. Additionally, patients should have increased access to testing kits, face masks, alcohol or hand sanitizer, and vaccination against COVID-19 infection.
