Factors associated with the competency of prevention and control coronavirus disease 2019 among public health personnel in a Singburi Province in health region 4

Abstract

This cross sectional analysis design aimed to study level of competency and factors associated with the competency of prevention and control coronavirus disease 2019. Samples were 311 public health personnel who work COVID-19. The research tools were created and applied which composed of 4 parts: 1) personal data 2) self-efficacy, 3) work motivation, and 4) competency of prevention and control COVID-19. Descriptive statistic was used for personal data and logistic regression was used for factors influencing competency of prevention and control. The results revealed that 54.02 percent of public health personnel had a high level of competency. Factors that influenced competency were as followed: education (p-value = 0.017, OR = 3.39), expected in self-efficacy (p-value = 0.022, OR = 8.32), acceptance from internal and external department (p-value = 0.002, OR = 4.90), responsible to duty (p-value = 0.002, OR = 6.10), type of job (p-value = 0.009, OR = 7.86), policy and administrative in department (p-value = < 0.001, OR = 4.22), and life and privacy (p-value = 0.003, OR = 4.86). Therefore, factors that effected problems and influenced public health personnel to control diseases should be developed for successful and sustainable of disease control.
