Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak investigation among travelers from Kuwait Who was detained at a State Quarantine in Samut Prakan Province on May 27, 2020.

Abstract

On May 25, 2020 at 3:39 p.m. Situation Awareness Team (SAT), Office of Disease Prevention and Control 6, Chonburi Province. Notified by Health Control Suvarnabhumi Airport. Found two confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) came from Kuwait went to quarantined at one of a state quarantine in Samut Prakan Province. An investigation team from the Office of Disease Prevention and Control No. 6, Chonburi along with an investigation team from the Samut Prakan Provincial Public Health Office had investigated the facts and defined definitions in order to preparatory meeting and went to the State Quarantine to investigate on May 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. (1) To describe the event and Epidemiological characteristics (2) To find out what factors cause Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and (3) To suggest guidance on the prevention and control of disease which is a descriptive epidemiological study collect information from medical records, interview with stakeholders, explore the location of the incident.
The investigation found that (1) Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) confirmed cases come from Kuwait have a total of 21 cases were quarantined at the same state quarantine facility, all of whom were male (100 %). Hire career 20 cases (95.28%). Spa massage career 1 case (4.72%). Median of patient age is 36-40 years (61.9%). Clinical manifestations were mostly asymptomatic, 57.14 %. This outbreak is characterized by the same source of disease. (2) Risk activities while living in Kuwait found that most of the infected people live with the sick (95.24%), No distancing (90.48 %), Irregular hand washing (61.90%), Sit closely with the patient on the plane (42.86%). While staying in the state quarantine facility had left from their own room to the room of infected (4.76 percent) (3) Suggestion were the state quarantine facility should record name of the staff on duty and assess the risks each day, airlines should follow the measures to prevent and reduce the chance of the spread of COVID-19 strictly, the Department of Land Transport should emphasize measures on buses transporting travelers to the state quarantine facilities and should have a seating chart for each passenger to be able to keep a surveillance appropriately if found a confirmed case / the who infected person on that vehicle.
