Objective: To examine the effectiveness of club of alcohol therapy on drinking behavior and family functioning among people with alcohol dependence.


         Methods: A quasi-experimental with one group pretest and posttest design was applied in this study. The participants were 40 people with alcohol dependence living in Chom Thong, San Sai, Doi Saket, Chiang Mai province and Mueang, Lamphun province. Data were gathered from January 2016 to May 2017. Research instruments included alcohol therapy club program, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test [AUDIT], and Chulalongkorn Family Inventory. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and dependent pair-test.


          Results: The mean scores of drinking behavior and the mean scores of family functioning in alcohol dependence before and after receiving the club of alcoholic therapy had statistical difference (p=.01).


            Conclusion: Alcoholic therapy club could be as an effective approach for helping alcohol-dependent people to reduce drinking and enhance family functioning.
