Health promotion situation of some workplaces in Krathumban district, Samut Sakhon province

Abstract

A cross-sectional study focusing on the employees’ health promotion guideline and demand of some
workplaces in Krathumban District, Samut Sakhon Province – Two sample groups were 29 executives and
420 employees. Data gathered via questionnaires in February-March 2011. Percentage was used as analyzing
statistics.
Results in executives’ group showed the workplaces had health promotion policy (75.9%) and activity
budget (65.5%). Most-operated activity in personal hygiene was annual health-check; in healthy-behavior
promotion was anti-narcotics. Most-wanted aspect in health promotion was the in-house training for employ-
ees’ leaders. Results in employees’ group showed they had BMI in obese level (23.8%), had non-regular
exercise, consumed too much high-fat food and alcohol drinks. Most-wanted aspect in health promotion was
the improvement for a pleasant and livable workplace environment.

Region Health Promotion Center Ratchaburi and related offices then should organ-
ize training on the benefits/importance of health promotion in the workplace so the executives can allocate
budget appropriately. Related offices as the mentor should give advices and support the operations as per
their potential and demand until the ultimate success.
