About the Journal

Aims and Scope

Journal of Public Health and Development (J Public Hlth Dev) is a journal published online by the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, Thailand. As a double- blinded, peer-reviewed journal, it publishes three issues annually for local and international health personnel. All manuscripts are subject to review by at least two peer reviewers. J Public Hlth Dev covers content topics of scientific knowledge which are relevant to public health and development within the scopes of the contexts listed below.

  1. Primary health care and community health,
  2. Health policy and management,
  3. Health promotion and education,
  4. Environmental and occupational health,
  5. Addiction studies and behavior and
  6. Global, one and plenary health research.

Types of Articles

Original Articles

The original articles demonstrate the novel and scientific knowledge that has not been published elsewhere. These articles feature prominent, new and compelling findings that are impactful to other public health professionals and related field researchers.  The original articles should be no longer than 4,000 words (excluding abstract and references) and contain no more than 8 tables or figures. The structure of original articles should comprise Abstract (300 words maximum), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Recommendation, Acknowledgements and References.

Review Articles

The journal welcomes manuscripts for comprehensive review and analysis on the specific related topics, for example, systematic review, meta-analysis, and integrative review. Review articles should be no longer than 5,000 words (excluding Abstract and References) and a maximum of 8 tables and/or figures. The abstract should not exceed 300 words.

Review Process

All manuscripts are subject to review by at least two peer reviewers following a double-blind process. The comments and suggestions from reviewers will be conveyed to the editors, and to the corresponding author. The revised version of the manuscript with a point-by-point response to reviewers from the authors will be returned to the editors. Finally, the decision to accept or reject is made by the editors, based on the recommendations by the reviewers.

Publication Frequency

Three issues: 1st issue: January-April, 2nd issue: May-August, 3rd issue: September-December.

Language

The manuscript is written in academic English. If authors are not native English speakers, the editors recommend that the manuscript should be professionally edited by a native English speaker before submission.

Open Access Policy

All articles published in J Public Hlth Dev are Open Access. Readers have the right to read, download, copy, distribute and search for the freely available full text of these articles.

Ownership and Management

The ownership of J Public Hlth Dev is the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University. The operation and management costs of this journal receive from ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Mahidol University.  This support of financial budget prolongs and maintains the high quality of publication and open-access options for worldwide readers.
 
Copyright and Licensing
The open access articles published by J Public Hlth Dev are under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license, allowing readers to distribute, remix, adapt, build upon this work noncommercially. This ensures that the attempt revises maximum exposure, and the authors gets by their contribution. Author guidelines prepare and provide the regulation of copyright and licensing information on the right and role of author.
 
Revenue Sources

To sustain its operations and maintain transparency, the J Public Hlth Dev relies on a diverse range of revenue streams. The firm outlines its revenue model clearly on its website. Article Processing Charges (APCs) form a core revenue stream, with authors funding publication costs upon the acceptance of their manuscripts.ASEAN Institute for Health Development and Mahidol University are fulfilling the critical technological and administrative needs of our journal. Editorial decisions are strictly independent of our revenue sources, with manuscripts evaluated solely on scientific merit. Our journal is fully committed to publishing high-quality academic content that advances international knowledge in public health and development research.

Advertising and Direct Marketing

The J Public Hlth Dev neither accept the advertising and direct marketing from any organization.

Publication Fee 

The J Public Hlth Dev charges a publication fee of $200 USD, which is billed to authors only after their manuscript successfully clears the peer-review process and is accepted with submitted on after January 1, 2027.
