Nursing students’ attitude toward health service and community practice at Boromrajchonnee College of Nursing, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Phanom University

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate nursing students’ attitudes toward health
service and community practice, focusing on social value, professional proficiency,
nursing operation, community practice and interpersonal relationship among nurses,
patients and patients’ relatives. The sample employed for this survey research was 98
senior nursing students in the academic years 2005 and 2006, selected by purposive
sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire which was distributed to
98 students. The response rate was 100 percent. The statistics for data analysis were
percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results reveal that the subjects agreed at a
high level with questions regarding professional proficiency, nursing operation, community
practice and interpersonal relationships among nurses, patients and patients’ relatives.
The subjects agreed at a moderate level with questions regarding social value. It can
be concluded that the nursing students’ attitudes toward health service and community
practice was at a good level. Boromrajchonnee College of Nursing, Nakhon Phanom
should promote all nursing students’s attitudes toward health service and community
practice for further suggestion.
