The Effects of Self-Care Model Participles of caregivers in the care of patients with Corneal Ulcer Infections

Abstract

          Objective : To study the effects of self-care models and participation of caregivers Patient with corneal wound infection, eye, ear, nose, and throat ward, Nakhon Phanom Hospital

          Materials and Methods : This research is a quasi-experimental research, One group Pretest-Posttest, a sample group of all patients with corneal wound infection. who come to receive services from the eye, ear, nose, and throat ward at Nakhon Phanom Hospital. By selecting purposive sampling between July 2023 and September 2023, calculated according to the Krejcie & Morgan table, there were 31 cases, caregivers, and professional nurses on the ward. The research tools included a self-care model for patients with corneal wound infections. Tools used to collect data: 1) Questionnaire on self-care behavior of patients with corneal wound infection. 2) Questionnaire on participation behavior of caregivers of patients with corneal wound infection. 3) Questionnaire on caregiver satisfaction. Patients with corneal wound infection regarding the self-care model. 4) Satisfaction questionnaire of patients with corneal wound infection regarding the self-care model. 5) Satisfaction questionnaire of professional nurses in the eye ward. Ear, nose, and throat: a form of self-care Content validity was checked by 5 experts. Quantitative data were analyzed by finding frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test statistics.

Results : 1)This study showed that patients with Corneal Ulcer Infections were readmitted in 28 days. 2) Behavior for self-care of patients with Corneal Ulcer Infections. Before the implementation of the Self-Care Model, mean score was 1.92(SD=0.98) and after the mean score was 2.61(SD=0.62). The education was significantly higher than the score before education (P< 0.01. 3) Participles of caregivers in the care of patients with Corneal Ulcer Infections. Before the implementation of the Self-Care Model mean score was 2.99 (SD=0.14) and after the mean score 3.47 (SD=0.09) The education was significantly higher than the score before education (P< 0.01). 4). The satisfaction’s patients with Corneal Ulcer Infections were in the highest level (=3.24,S.D=0.60).5).The satisfaction’s caregiver were in the highest level ( =3.29,S.D=0.65) 6). The satisfaction’s Nurse team were in the highest level (= 3.34, S.D=0.48).

          Conclusion : Self-Care Model Participles of caregivers in the care of patients with Corneal Ulcer Infections. After implemented high level of self care behavior and Participles of caregivers, according to the evaluation of readmitted in 28 days.
