The Effectiveness of 0.5 percent Sodium nitrate and Vernonia cinerea in the treatment of tobacco use disorder

Abstract

Objective:  To compare the effectiveness of smoking cessation solution and Vernonia cinerea in smoking cessation of outpatients receiving smoking cessation therapy.

Materials & Methods: A sample of 83 participants in the project, who were patients who received treatment for smoking cessation at the Love Lung Clinic at the Princess Mother National Institute on Drug Abuse Treatment (PMNIDAT), who met the inclusion criteria to participate in the project. The participants were divided into two groups by blocked randomization method. Forty participants from control received Vernonia cinerea. The smoking cessation results were followed up at weeks 1, 4, 7, and 12. In the follow-up phase, the participants were interviewed about the smoking cessation and a urine test was conducted parallelly to confirm the results.

Results: There were no significant differences in PAR and CAR values among subjects who used tobacco eliminators and Vernonia cinerea. In addition, BUN values in Vernonia cinerea were significantly decreased.

Conclusion: Tobacco cessation liquid and Vernonia cinerea tendentiously increase your chances of stopping smoking.
