Attitude and Perspective on Cannabis for health among citizens of Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province

Abstract

Objective: This qualitative research aimed to study attitude and perspective on cannabis for health of 25 person in Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province.

Materials and Methods of Study: The specific informants consisted of village headmen, community leaders, health volunteers. This research was specifically collected into data with choosing the specific informants, being interviewed with in-depth interview, and using data.

Study results: According to the research, respondents stated that health officials should advocate cannabis education and use. Local communities have natural resources and an environment of cultivating cannabis for therapeutic purposes, but they must be supported by the public and private sectors. The respondents stated both perception of cannabis use; for example, it can be used to treat ailments, enhance the palatability of food, or become addicting when abused and overused. The respondents had limited experience with cannabis use since it is not extensively utilized in the area now. However, the informants are aware of the dangers associated with cannabis use. When used inappropriately, it has a harmful effect on the body. There was a lack of awareness and access to local cannabis sources because the government and commercial agencies in the area had not yet disseminated information and the people lacked understanding about how to utilize cannabis medicinally.

Conclusion: The respondents expressed both positive and negative perception of cannabis use. The respondents have a positive attitude towards the use of cannabis for health.
