Effect of maternal guidelines care for Primiparous postpartum teenage mothers

Abstract

Objective : To develop guidelines for the care of adolescent mothers after the first trimester and the results of the development of guidelines for the care of adolescent mothers after the first trimester obstetrics and gynecology ward

Materials and methods :  this research This was a quasi experimental research. The sample was adolescent mothers after giving birth to the first trimester. Age from 15 years to 19 years, all who come to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward. at Nakhon Phanom Hospital between October 2021 to December 2021 of 57 people. The instruments used in the research were: Guidelines for caring for adolescent mothers after the first trimester which the researcher has developed Self-Care Behavior Questionnaire of Adolescent Mothers After First Pregnancy The satisfaction questionnaire of adolescent mothers after the first trimester and the satisfaction questionnaire of professional nurses in obstetrics and gynecology wards. towards the use of care guidelines The content was examined by 5 experts. Quantitative data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, pair t-test statistics.

Results :  The guidelines for the care of adolescent mothers after the first trimester consisted of a lesson plan, postpartum self-care for adolescent mothers after the first trimester. The guideline for caring for adolescent mothers after the first pregnancy found that the self-care behaviors of adolescent mothers after the first pregnancy The mean score before the guideline was 2.68 (SD=0.32). After using the guideline, the mean score was 2.68 (SD=0.32). 3.50(SD=0.38) higher than before using the guideline statistically significant (P < 0.001) on the satisfaction of adolescent mothers to the care approach. with an average of 3.52(SD=0.21) is the highest level. As for the satisfaction of the nurses towards the care guideline for adolescent mothers after the first trimester, the mean was at 3.77(SD=0.36) was also at the highest level.

Conclusion : The research results that  Guidelines for caring for adolescent mothers after the first trimester when used as a care guideline To be the same way in teaching and guiding mothers after childbirth. to be able to take care of themselves and take care of their children including creating understanding source of support help mother child support will make teenage mothers ready and confident in performing the role of mother appropriately
