Abstract
DEVELOPMENT OF THAI VERSION IN ACHIEVEMENT GOAL ORIENTATION MEASURE IN EXERCISE
This research aimed to develop the questionnaire of the Achievement goal orientation measure in exercise for quality measuring instruments and to use the questionnaire to evaluate the achievement goal orientation on exercise activities of Burapha University collegian and to study types of the achievement goal orientation on exercise activities which were divided by gender. The process was divided into two sections: The first one was to develop the validity and reliability of instruments. The results showed that the improved instruments accurate intheoretical query by the back translation technique and in the structured query processing by the Factor Analysis. According to the results, there were two elements that could be divided into the five types of Task goal orientation and the five objectives of Ego goal orientation. The results of the questionnaire were reliable as the alpha coefficient result after the test-retest reliability method was .98. The second section was to use the improved instrument from the first section to evaluate the achievement goal orientation on exercise activities of collegian in Burapha University. The data from the survey of 374 undergraduate in the University were parted as 115 male students and 259 female students. The results of the achievement goal orientation on exercise activities in the student group of Burapha university were showed that most of them, female and male (n = 231), were the high task/low ego orientation group. The achievement goal orientation on exercise activities of the students in each gender showed that no difference on the achievement goal orientation on exercise activities between female and male (χ2 = 7.289 p = 0.063) and showed that men and women students oriented the high task/low ego orientation group as well. In conclusion, this research showed good validity and reliability of the developed questionnaire; therefore, it was so good tools for measuring the achievement goal orientation on exercise activities. Our study of the student group of Burapha university was showed that most of them, even if female or male, were in the high task/low ego orientation group.
