บทความวิจัยเรื่องนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการวิจัยเรื่องประเมินผลการบูรณาการงานป้องกันและแก้ไขปัญหาการตั้งครรภ์ในวัยรุ่นระดับจังหวัด โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เฉพาะ เพื่อเปรียบเทียบลักษณะทางประชากร พื้นฐานทางครอบครัว คะแนนความรู้เกี่ยวกับการคุมกำเนิด การป้องกันโรคติดต่อทางเพศสัมพันธ์ เอชไอวี เอดส์ ผลการตั้งครรภ์ในวัยรุ่น และพฤติกรรมการมีเพศสัมพันธ์ของนักเรียน 2 กลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มในอำเภอเมือง และอำเภออื่น ๆ ใช้วิธีการวิจัยแบบสำรวจ ดำเนินการวิจัยระหว่างเดือนกรกฎาคม 2559 - มิถุนายน 2561 ในประชากรนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 มัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 และนักเรียนโรงเรียน/วิทยาลัยอาชีวศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 2 ใน 17 จังหวัด คำนวณขนาดตัวอย่างใช้สูตรประมาณค่าสัดส่วน สุ่มตัวอย่างแบบแบ่งกลุ่มสองชั้น โดยสุ่มตัวอย่างห้องเรียน และตัวอย่างนักเรียนแบบมีระบบ เก็บข้อมูลได้จำนวน 10,025 คน เก็บข้อมูลด้วยแบบสอบถามที่สร้างขึ้น วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยค่าร้อยละ และ 95% ช่วงเชื่อมั่น ผลการศึกษาพบว่า นักเรียนทั้งสองกลุ่ม ไม่มีความแตกต่างกันในทางประชากร และพื้นฐานทางครอบครัว จำนวนนักเรียนทั้งในอำเภอเมืองและในอำเภออื่น ๆ ร้อยละ 38.0-90.0 มีระดับคะแนนรวมความรู้เรื่องการคุมกำเนิด การป้องกันโรคติดต่อทางเพศสัมพันธ์ เอชไอวี เอดส์ และผลการตั้งครรภ์ในวัยรุ่นเพียงพอ (มากกว่าร้อยละ 70.0) และนักเรียนทั้งสองกลุ่ม มีความแตกต่างกันในเรื่องจำนวนการเคยมีเพศสัมพันธ์ ความแตกต่างทางเพศ และวิธีการป้องกันโรคติดต่อทางเพศสัมพันธ์ เอชไอวี เอดส์
