Content analysis was carried out for data collection according to the Symbolic Interaction Theory. The results revealed that pregnant women described their experiences within 2 issues:1) The process was a confi rmation of live birth. And 2) This process had to be under the supervision of experienced and knowledgeable nurses. The results suggested guidelines for caring for pregnant women who undergo electronic fetal monitoring during the fi rst stage of labor that nurses should provide information on EFM installation and suggestions for self-monitoring.   It was also recommended to improve the external EFM limitations.
