This descriptive study aimed to investigate self-perceived nursing competencies of nursing students and supporting factors for improving nursing competencies of nursing students in Adult Health Nursing Practice I course of 2<sup>nd</sup> year nursing students, Faculty of Nursing. Study participants were recruited using purposive sampling and consisted of 216 nursing students. Data were collected using a demographic data questionnaire, a perception of nursing competency questionnaire, a perception of overall nursing competency questionnaire, and a supporting factor for improving nursing competency questionnaire. Reliability test of the questionnaire obtained Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.92. Data analysis was performed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Results of the study showed that majority of students had self-perceived nursing competencies regarding health assessment at good to very good level, regarding nursing therapeutic skills at very good level, and regarding nursing process at moderate to good level. Most had overall self-perceived nursing competencies at moderate level. Three main supporting factors for improving nursing competencies included student supporting system, nursing students, and teaching/learning media. The results of this study could be utilized for planning of teaching/ learning and creating guideline for improving competencies of nursing students.</p> ER -
