It depends on the individual childhood experience. However, there are some children who fears without reason. In addition, some children who have experienced fears and not been cared for or addressed the problems properly at appropriate time, the fear severity may gradually increase, and eventually become phobias that are difficult to treat. Nevertheless, symptom indicating severity on each type of phobias in school-age children may guide those involved in finding out preventive and care strategies for assisting these school-age children to reduce their fears rapidly. The objective of this article is to present causes and severity of fear as well as signs of fears and phobias, for those involved of care and pediatric nurses to understand reasons and strategies to prevent children’s fears and phobias. Holistic child health care by nurses can help understanding causes, severity, and guide for addressing the problems.
