Nursing innovation to promote adaptation in school – age children who perceived being ill with leukemia

Abstract

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research study was to investigate the nursing innovation to promote adaptation in school-age children who perceived being ill with leukemia. Sample groups were children age 6-13 years old who perceived being ill with leukemia. The selected sample groups were 20 patients, Control group 10 patients and the experiment group 10 patients. The instruments used in the study consist of 3 dimension animation pictures, the practies booklet and guestionnaires for evaluating patients adaptation. The data were analyzed using frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. The study has found that (1) After the experiment, the experimental group had mean total score of adaptation was higher than the control group, with a statistically signifcant at 0.01 (2) After the experiment, the experumental group had mean total score of adaptation was higher than before the experiment, with a signifcant at 0.01
