Spiritual Care in Critically ILL Persons Perceived by Nurses and Patients

Abstract

This descriptive research aimed to compare perceived of spiritual care between critical patients who were in intensive care unit (ICU) and the nurses cared for them in Sisaket hospital. Participants included 60 ICU nurses and 70 post-crisis patients who were about to transfer from ICU. Two sets of spiritual care questionnaire for the nurses and patients were used to measure their perceptions towards spiritual care. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The independent t-test was used to compare the spiritual care mean score between nurses’ and patients’ perceptions. The fi ndings were: the nurses’ and patients’ perceptions spiritual care mean scores revealed a signifi cant difference at the level of 0.05 (p=0.000)
