The control group received routine care. The experimental group received routine care with the two times participatory learning program with family in the first and second week of experiment. The experimental instruments included the handout of diet control, the participatory learning program for nurse, and the blood sugar checking machine. The collecting instruments included the demographic and diet control behavior questionnaires, and the recording form of blood sugar. Data were analyzed by t-testand χ2-test. The proportion of the experimental group who decreased fasting blood sugar level and two- hour postprandial blood sugar level decreased after experiment more than the control group, but were not statistically significant at 0.05level.
