Also the management of head nurses to ensure the safety of the<br>workplace as perceived by subordinates are investigated. The participants<br>comprised of 178 nurses working as emergency nurses at community hospitals<br>selected by purposive sampling. A questionnaire was developed consisting of 3 parts,<br>namely (1) assessing general data, (2) investigating work efficiency based on the health<br>problems related the unrest situation, and (3) safety management of the head nurses.<br>The questionnaire was validated by three experts and the reliability of parts 2 and 3<br>tested using the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, resulting in values of 0.89 and 0.86<br>respectively. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard<br>deviation and the t-test. The results showed that (1) the mean total score of work<br>efficiency of the emergency nurses was at a medium level (Mean=1.11, SD=0.49) as<br>were the psychological (Mean=1.87, SD=0.75) social (Mean=1.02, SD=0.66) and<br>spiritual domains (Mean=1.27, SD=0.83), but the physical domain was at low level<br>(Mean=0.20, SD=0.37)(2). The safety management of the head nurses as perceived<br>by emergency nurses was at a medium level (Mean=3.42, SD=0.76). The results of<br>this research indicate that emergency nurses in the three southern border<br>provinces are aware of hazards in the workplace. In particular, head nurses should<br>support and empower emergency nurses in the psychological domain to promote<br>safety in the workplace.</p> ER -
