This research aims to study the situation of emergency patient triage by professional nurses in the emergency department of a community hospital in the western region. The key informants, totaling 22 people, consisted of 2 hospital administrators, 5 doctors, 9 professional nurses, and 6 service users. The tool used was a semi-structured interview form, validated for content by experts. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions until data saturation was reached. The data obtained from the transcripts was then analyzed using content analysis. The research results found that the study of the emergency patient triage situation by professional nurses in the emergency department revealed three main issues: 1) emergency triage situations: triage errors, causes of triage errors, current triage practices, challenges in triage, and suggestions for improving triage 2) nurses’ triage competencies: knowledge and ability, attitude, skills 3) organizational designs for nurses’ triage competency development: structure, process, and outcome. Recommendations from this research could be used to create a mentoring system where experienced nurses closely train new nurses and to review and improve triage guidelines to suit the hospital's context.
2024-12-29T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Health Research https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bcnpy/article/view/272449 Effects of a basic support promotion program for unconscious patients on the knowledge and skills in basic support for unconscious patients among royal volunteers 2024-10-15T11:03:35+07:00 Piyada Yuychim* piyada.ns1@gmail.com Varinthon Jantaramanee thailandjan03@hotmail.com Atchariya Watcharawiwat awatcharawiwat@gmail.com Sarunrak Bunmusik sarunrak4265@gmail.com Rudchanok Sripitak chanok_27@yahoo.co.th Wanaponpat Saechia bonloon-191-@hotmail.com
First aid for individuals having apnea or cardiac arrest is critically important. Promoting self-management in patients to control diabetes is therefore important. The quasi-experiment with a two-group pretest and posttest design aimed to examine the effects of a self-management program on the disease control behaviors and fasting blood glucose levels among patients with type 2 diabetes at Li Hospital, Lamphun Province. The sample consisted of 70 patients with type 2 diabetes who could not control their blood glucose levels. The sample was divided into an experimental group of 35 participants and a control group of 35 participants. The tools used included a self-management program, and a diabetes control behavior assessment tool focusing on diet and medication usage. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test between groups. The results of the study showed that after the program was completed, the experimental group had significantly higher average scores in disease control behaviors related to diet and medication use compared to the control group (p< .001), and their fasting blood glucose levels were significantly lower than those of the control group (p<.001). These findings demonstrated that the self-management program could improve disease control behaviors and reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, healthcare personnel should apply the self-management program to promote type 2 diabetes patients' self-management of diet and medication in diabetes clinics at community hospitals to reduce blood glucose levels.
2024-12-30T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Health Research https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bcnpy/article/view/273996 Perceptions and expectations of organizational management by nurse practitioners in primary healthcare units transferred to local administrative organizations 2024-11-24T09:48:24+07:00 Natrudee Sribudta Natrudee.nubell@gmail.com Nikorn Janpilom* korn_ems22@hotmail.com Jetsadaporn I-gumnerd jetsadaporn1987@gmail.com
The transfer of community health promotion hospitals from the Ministry of Public Health to local administrative organizations, under the Ministry of Interior has some impacts on health workers especially nurse practitioners. This descriptive research aims to study the perceptions and expectations regarding organizational management from nurse practitioners in primary healthcare units transferred to local administrative organizations. The study involved 70 nurse practitioners working in those units. The research tools were questionnaire obtained; 1) general information, and 2) perception and expectation about organizational management of transferred primary healthcare units.
