Questionnaires were used as the data collection tool during April 2555 B.E. There were completely 228 sets of returned questionnaires (91.2%). Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were employed for statistical analysis.

The study found that the level of overall organizational commitment of the professional nurses was at the high level (=58.4). Analysis by different aspects found that the aspects of willingness to contribute to the benefit of the organization, acceptance of the organization's values, and purpose and intention to remain in the organization were also at the high level. Differences in personal characteristics and working positions affected organizational commitment. Personal analyzed characteristics were age, duration of working, job characteristics and organizational characteristics. Working experience and perception of organizational culture had a positive relationship with the overall organizational commitment of the professional nurses with statistical significance (r = 0.20 P <0.01), (r = 0.20 p < 0.01), (r = 0.57 p< 0.01), (r = 0.62 p < 0.01), (r = 0.59 p < 0.01) respectively.

Recommendations from the research are that the administrator should promote and encourage personnel to create their personal values to be in accord with the organization's values. Fringe benefits, both in monetary terms and welfare should be increased. Working incentives and a positive organizational climate should also be promoted.

ER -
