It was a quasi-experimental study with both pre- and post-experiment. The sample group consisted of 60 registers nurses . The samples were divided into experimental and control groups, each separated into groups of 30. The research tool was the peer coaching program model, the peer coaching training plan, general questionnaires, and scale- competency of professional nurses forms. which was examined for content validity by five experts. The content validity index was at 0.86. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was at 0.96. Data were analyzed using descriptive and statistical paired t-tests and independent t-tests. <strong>As for the results</strong> of the study on professional nurses’ competency in both pre- and post-experiment, it was found that comparing the level of professional nurses’ competency between the experimental and control groups, it was found that after using the peer coaching program, competence of professional nurses had a statistically significant difference in competence scores (p > .05). Additionally, compared with pre- and post-usage of the peer coaching program, it was found that the mean scores of post-experimental competence of professional nurses were significantly different (p < .05) and higher than the pre-experimental one. <strong>The findings</strong> indicated that the peer coaching can be positively used to improve the practical competence of professional nurses working in the inpatient department.</p>}, number={3}, journal={NU Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences}, author={Sunanta, Patcharin and Aree, Patcharaporn and Singchungchai, Phechnoy}, year={2021}, month={Dec.}, pages={98–111} }
