An Investigation of Bacteria for X-ray Cassettes in Phichit Hospital
Keywords:
X-ray cassettes, Bacteria, Phichit HospitalAbstract
Bacteria contaminations were reported in various medical equipment inPhichit hospital. X-ray cassettes, used for radiographyin Radiographic Department, Phichit Hospital, did not investigated for bacterial contaminations. They could be a possible source of pathogens capable of causing nosocomial infections. This research was conducted to investigate and identify bacterial X-ray cassettes contamination in Phichit Hospital. Sixty fivescassettes were swabbed for investigated and identified bacterial species by usingsingle colonic morphology pattern, gram staining and biochemical properties. The result demonstrated that contamination cassettes were 62 plates. The percentage of overall bacterial contamination on cassettes was 95.4.Moreover, there were large to small level of bacteria specieswereStaphylococcus coagulase negative, Micrococcusspp.,Diphtheroidsand Streptococcus viridansgroups. Although all nonpathogenicbacteriain normal people were found but they were possible routes of cross infection especially in low immunity and severe patients. Cleansing or choosing X-ray cassettes in appropriate situation inlow immunity and severe patients should be donecontinuously.
