The instrument was the evaluation form of the modified-matrix drug treatment program, which including of 3 parts as follows: 1) personal data information, 2) the patient’s report from treatment, and 3) the treatment monitoring and follow-up form. Data analysis of the abstinence rate employed descriptive statistics and analyzed the factors related to the abstinence rate using Chi-square statistics.

The results found that 77.3% of patients who participated in the modified-matrix drug treatment program in an outpatient had a rate of abstinence 3 months after completing treatment. For the factor associated with the rate of discontinuation after treatment, it was found that voluntary therapy (p-value = 0.016) and income (p-value = 0.034) were associated with the abstinence rate. Therefore, health authorities should be providing a campaign to increase voluntarily participate in the program, especially the low-income earners to increase the opportunity to quit the drugs.
