Abstract

The objectives of this cross-sectional research aimed to study the level of the Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) in the prevention and control of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Phichit Province and to study the prognostic factors in this situation. Data were collected by using a questionnaire with a sample of 954 VHVs in Phichit Province during July - August 2021 and analyzed using one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression analysis.
The results showed that most of the samples had a high level of participation in the prevention and control of COVID-19 (52.4%). For each part, including planning, decision-making, action, benefit receiving, and evaluation, the participation was found at a high level in all parts (51.4%, 43.0%, 48.8%, 48.8%, and 46.2%, respectively). Factors affecting participation in prevention and control of COVID-19 from the univariable analysis were knowledge level, attitude level, level of opinion about the community environment, training, and age group (p-value < 0.05). The factor affecting the participation behavior of the VHV in implementing the prevention and control of COVID-19 in Phichit province from the multivariable analysis were opinions on the community environment conducive to prevention and control of covid-19, attitudes towards COVID-19, occupation, and age, which could jointly explain the variation of the VHV's participation behavior in implementing COVID-19 prevention and control measures by 46.5% (p-value <0.05).
