Factors Affecting Quality of Work Life Among Dental Health Officers Sukhothai Province

The purpose of this research was to study factors related to the quality of working life of dental
hygienists in Sukhothai province. Forty-two people participated in the study. The data collected using
questionnaires to assess personal characteristics, job characteristics, organizational engagement, organizational
climate, and quality of working life. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson
and ETA correlation coefficient.
The results showed that the overall quality of work life was at a moderate level ( = 3.37, S.D. = 0.77),
with job and career satisfaction the highest mean ( = 3.67, S.D. = 0.82), followed by the working condition
( = 3.60, S.D. = 0.71). The lowest level was work stress ( = 2.83, S.D. = 0.86). While factors related to quality
of work life was age (r = 0.35), the importance of work (r = 0.41), freedom of work (r = 0.71), organization structure
(r = 0.54), management policy (r = 0.54), environment (r = 0.60), technology (r = 0.58), mind (r = 0.48) and
persistence in work (r = 0.37) at p-value < 0.05.
The suggestion for this research was that the executive should promote the quality of working life
of dental hygienists by giving freedom to work, creating a suitable working environment, providing enough
technology, designing appropriate organization structure and policies as well as communication for dental
hygienists to increase perception by considering their age.
