Residents in Siriraj hospital were invited to complete a questionnaire asking about their practices in delivering the 5 A’s, and their smoking<br />cessation training. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Also, factors associated with delivery of the 5 A’s were tested by chi-square, Fisher’s exact test, Mann-Whitney U-test<br />and logistic regression.<br />Result : 236 residents were recruited in the study. 8.1 percent of them reported delivering all 5 items of the 5 A’s, and 27.1 percent reported having received training. Moreover, trained<br />residents were more likely to deliver all 5 items of the 5 A’s than untrained residents (OR 2.65, p = 0.04), and residents in psychiatry were more likely to deliver at least 4 items of the 5 A’s<br />(OR 4.97, p = 0.005), deliver the item assess (OR = 7.07, p = 0.01) and arrange (OR = 4.38, p = 0.02) than residents in other departments.<br />Conclusion : Only a small proportion of residents delivered all 5 items of the 5 A’s and have received training.
