While the number of older adults is continuously increasing, qualitative studies on the lifestyles and factors contributing to longevity remain limited. This study focuses on identifying the lifestyle and secrets to longevity. The qualitative research collected data from individuals aged 80 and above living in northern Thailand. Sixteen participants were selected using the snowball sampling technique. All were healthy, communicated clearly, and were cognitively assessed with the Mini-Cog test. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, focusing on in-depth discussions, and analyzed using inductive content analysis.</p> <p>The results revealed five components of lifestyle: “eating well, regular bowel movements, quality sleep, staying active, and maintaining happiness,” as follows: 1) Demonstrates the capacity to consume varied diet without monotony, with an emphasis on locally sourced foods and seasonal vegetables 2) No problems with bowel movements, or if there are, there will be tips for maintaining regularity 3) Go to bed early and wake up early 4) Stay active, have a routine, do activities constantly, have life goals, socialize, and regularly meet and talk with neighbors or relatives 5) Find motivation from things that support mental well-being, make life happy, and avoid things that cause suffering. Moreover, critical secrets to longevity include consuming bananas, regular exercise, and mental resilience. These findings can be used as guidelines for promoting health across all age groups in preparation for entering a longevity society.</p> Ganokwun Buntuchai, Apichart Chotchuen Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Health Sciences and Wellness http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/280370 Tue, 16 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Effects of Resilience Development Program among Early Adolescents Living in Child Shelter in Pathum Thani Province: A Feasibility and Pilot Study https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/280417 <p> Early adolescents living in homes for children do not live with their parents. Therefore, resiliency is important to enable them to live appropriately in society. This research assessed the feasibility and initial effects of a resilience development program for early adolescents in children's homes. This Quasi experimental study used a one-group, pretest-posttest design. The sample included 18 early adolescents aged 10-14 living in children's homes in Pathum Thani province, recruited by convenience sampling. The research tool consists of two parts: Part 1 is used for experimentation. They received resilience development program developed by the researcher where contained four engaging activities (understanding about resilience, relationships with friends, write about personal growth and strength, self-esteem, meditation, control your emotions, and problem-solving thinking) incorporated into two meetings. Part 2 included self-administered questionnaires, a general information questionnaire, and a resilience factor scale with its Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.88. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the paired t-test to examine differences before and after the trial. <br /> The results showed that after completing the intervention, the sample had a score on overall resilience factors that was high (Mean = 84.55, SD = 10.00), which was significantly higher than before the intervention (p &lt; .05). The findings revealed that this resilience development program is highly significant for caring for early adolescents living in children's homes. Therefore, nurses or personnel responsible should be encouraged to adopt the program to enhance the quality of life of early adolescents.</p> Narunest Chulakarn, Nujjaree Chaimongkol, Jaruwan Phaitrakoon, Ninlapa Jirarattanawanna Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Health Sciences and Wellness http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/280417 Tue, 16 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Factors Related to Self-Prevention Behaviors against Alcohol Consumption of Nursing Students in a Private University in Samutprakan Province https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/277874 <p><span style="font-size: 0.875rem;">This study was survey research on factors related to self-prevention behaviors against alcohol consumption of students in a private university in Samutprakarn province. Screening can be performed using a scoliometer, which measures the angle of spinal trunk rotation. Although mobile applications for scoliosis assessment have recently been developed (Smartphone application, App). There are still limitations, particularly in terms of high cost; all data is recorded in the mobile device’s memory, and previous angle data cannot be reviewed. This study focused on developing the Scolioscope© App, which had not yet been tested for reliability and validity. The study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Scolioscope© App, in conjunction with a customized base, by comparing with a standard scoliometer (Baseline® scoliosis meter) by investigating 20 volunteers at risk of scoliosis. Measurements of trunk rotation were analyzed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r). The results demonstrated that the Scolioscope© app showed very high test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.992), intra-rater reliability (ICC = 0.997), and inter-rater reliability (ICC = 0.994). The Scolioscope© app also demonstrated high validity (r = 0.983), with a mean difference of 0.01 degrees between the two measurement methods (95% limits of agreement: -0.43, +0.41). These findings suggest that the Scolioscope© App provides accurate spinal axial trunk rotation measurements comparable to the scoliometer (Baseline® scoliosis meter). Therefore, the Scolioscope© app can be used to screen for scoliosis risk.</p> Ponpisut Worrajiran, Khanchitphon Modthook, Chalinee Nimpeng, Tanapa Kanjanapratum, Parinya Lertsinthai Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Health Sciences and Wellness http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/278526 Tue, 16 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Effects of a Counseling Skills Enhancement Program on Head Nurses' Perception of their Counseling Role in a Private Hospital https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/280430 <p> This quasi-experimental research aimed to compare the perceived counseling roles of head nurses between those who received a counseling skills enhancement program and a control group. The sample consisted of 60 head nurses, divided into an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). The research instruments included: 1) the counseling skills enhancement program, and 2) a questionnaire on the perception of counseling roles, with a content validity index (CVI) of 0.93 and a Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of 0.92. However, it is presently challenged by a high turnover rate. The healthcare field continues to face disruptions, including technological advancements, shifting patient care needs, and workforce shortages. Therefore, it is increasingly vital to reassess and adapt the Practical Nursing Program to remain effective in order to prepare practical nurses for the evolving demands of healthcare. Therefore, this article proposes three key reform guidelines: (1) integrating digital technology into training, (2) creating clear professional career pathways, and (3) promoting a respectful organizational culture to retain personnel and enhance long-term patient care quality.</p> <p>The first key area for transformation involves incorporating digital tools and technologies into training, ensuring that practical nurses are equipped with the skills needed to navigate new healthcare systems, such as electronic health records and telemedicine platforms. Additionally, adapting the curriculum to focus on patient-centered care, communication skills, and cultural competency will help practical nurses provide more personalized and effective care. Second important consideration is improving career pathways for practical nurses. By offering opportunities for career progression and professional development, the program can retain skilled workers and help to decrease turnover rates. Lastly, it is recommended to promote a respectful organizational culture by encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration to strengthen professional relationship.</p> <p>In conclusion, these above-stated three guidelines will help prepare practical nurses to cope with the disruptive change of the healthcare field. This reform, which focuses on incorporating digital skills, professional growth, and respectful organizational culture will serve as an important foundation for strengthening the country's healthcare system in the future.</p> Mullika Singnoi, Parichad Apidechakul, Phongthara Vichitvejpaisal Copyright (c) 2026 Journal of Health Sciences and Wellness http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/279669 Tue, 16 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 The Role of Nurses in Promoting Health Literacy to Prevent Harm from PM2.5 in Patients with Allergic Rhinitis https://he01.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/HCUJOURNAL/article/view/278422 <p>This academic article aims to describes the dangers of particulate matter 2.5 microns or less (PM2.5), an air pollutant that impacts public health.
